# Medicine information and public prices Evidence reviewed: 23 October 2026. English edition: 24 October 2026. ## Medicine classifications Medicine type distinguishes chemical medicines, biologics, traditional Chinese medicines and vaccines. Innovation classification describes innovative, generic, biosimilar, improved or historical new medicines. These are separate dimensions: a traditional Chinese medicine can also be an innovative medicine. Classifications follow the product's approval evidence and the registration rules in effect at approval. Ambiguous records remain unverified. A historical new medicine is not necessarily a Class 1 innovative medicine under current rules. A company's location does not establish originator or generic status. This library primarily covers innovative and historical new medicines; the absence of confirmed generics here does not imply that no generics exist. See the [Chinese drug registration rules](https://www.samr.gov.cn/zw/zfxxgk/fdzdgknr/fgs/art/2023/art_3275cb2a929d4c34ac8c0421b2a9c257.html) and each medicine's linked approval sources. ## Indications and prescribing information English summaries preserve patient groups, disease stages, biomarkers, prior treatments and combination requirements. Source versions are identified. Overseas or historical prescribing information does not establish the current Chinese approved scope. Public insurance submissions and company product information are distinguished from complete official labels. Linked official PDFs and source documents retain their original language. An English website summary is not an official English label. See the [English medicine and label index](data/drugs-en.json) for source links and verification status. Treatment should follow the current prescribing information in the relevant jurisdiction and the treating clinician's assessment. ## Chinese national insurance Insurance entries use the 2025 National Reimbursement Drug List, effective 1 January 2026. National basic insurance and the commercial innovative-medicine list are identified separately. A missing directory match requires review and is not proof of non-coverage. Local rules, formulations and payment restrictions affect individual costs; this website does not estimate individual reimbursement percentages. ## USD reference prices Displayed amounts are converted to USD with one decimal place. Original pricing units, such as a tablet, pack or vial, are retained. Conversion uses European Central Bank reference rates dated 22 October 2026, not rates on each historical quotation date. No inflation adjustment or exchange-rate forecast is applied. Calculation: original amount × USD per EUR ÷ original-currency units per EUR. [European Central Bank reference rates](https://www.ecb.europa.eu/stats/policy_and_exchange_rates/euro_reference_exchange_rates/html/index.en.html). The original amount, currency, source date, unit and context remain available in medicine details. A source with unspecified currency is not converted. Chinese quotes include insurance payment standards and hospital prices. An insurance payment standard is not the patient's copayment. Overseas quotes include public list prices, manufacturer-submitted prices and government drug tariffs; undisclosed discounts are excluded. Selected reference samples take priority for Chinese representative prices, followed by public insurance standards and hospital prices. Overseas records supported by both local launch/approval news and official price evidence take priority. Comparable source types are ordered by source-version date, newest first; all available specifications remain in the detail view. Quotes with different dates, specifications or payment bases cannot establish actual savings. ## Coverage and community reviews The library focuses on medicines used in continuing or specialist care. It excludes traditional Chinese medicines used only for ordinary colds, routine cough relief, rhinitis symptom relief or fever associated with upper respiratory infections. Inclusion does not determine the severity of an individual's condition. This is not an exhaustive drug directory. Approval, availability, insurance and prices vary by place and time. Missing information is marked as unconfirmed; a missing price does not mean a medicine is unavailable. Source documents remain the property of their publishers. Patient reviews are personal experiences, not evidence of clinical efficacy. Reviews remain in the language chosen by their authors. Each member contributes at most one latest rating to a medicine's overall score, even when they leave reviews in multiple categories.
