Indications recorded in the public source
For complicated skin and soft-tissue infections caused by susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (methicillin-susceptible or methicillin-resistant strains), Streptococcus pyogenes or Streptococcus agalactiae. To reduce the development of bacterial resistance and preserve the effectiveness of contezolid and other antibacterials, it should be used only for infections proven or strongly suspected to be caused by susceptible bacteria. It is not indicated for Gram-negative infections. If a concurrent Gram-negative infection is confirmed or suspected, combination treatment with an agent active against Gram-negative bacteria is recommended. Bacterial culture and susceptibility testing should be considered when selecting or adjusting treatment, to isolate and identify the pathogen and determine its susceptibility. If susceptibility results are unavailable, empiric treatment should follow local epidemiological information on bacterial resistance and antibacterial susceptibility. Treatment may begin before susceptibility results are available, then be adjusted to targeted treatment once results are obtained.
